30 Ways for Muslims to Encounter Christ

There are many teachings in Islam that advocate the use of the sword (killing) to advance their religion. The teachings of Jesus calls us to surrender to the sword (martyrdom) to advance His Kingdom. Pray for Muslims in BiH to wrestle with this contrast and for their hearts to be softened to Christ.

Praying Scripture

“I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18).

Pray that principalities and powers over BiH would be held back, broken, and thrown down as the name of Jesus is lifted high over this nation. May we declare prophetic words over BiH, releasing visions, dreams, signs, and wonders in Jesus’ name. And may followers of Jesus walk in the authority bestowed on them by Christ’s life, death, resurrection, and ascension.

Praying for the Church

Pray that Christians in BiH will have a heart to start new churches among their friends and family. Would a spirit of competition or desire for large numbers within the church not outweigh the mission to see many meet Christ.

Liberty to the Captives

Each of us who comes to Christ must repent of and renounce every pact, promise, or identity we held before faith in Christ. Join us in praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ from a Muslim background as they repent of their former identity as Muslims. This prayer is inspired by chapter 7 and 8 of Liberty to the Captives by Mark Durie

We have the power of the Holy Spirit to reveal truth. “Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgement…” (John 16:7-8).

Pray for Christians from a Muslim background in BiH to trust only the Holy Spirit to reveal truth.

Bosnian Insights

The Bosnian war in the 1990’s is what put BiH on the map for many people. This horrible war, lasting from 1992-1995 saw the dissolution of Yugoslavia and the creation of the Bosnian state as we know it today. More than 100,000 people were killed and over 2 million displaced from their homes.

Acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing took place, as well as the longest seige in modern history (Sarajevo – 1,425 days). The physical scars of the war still remain, with many buildings keeping the bullet and mortar marks on their facades, which is not even to mention the traumatic emotional scars which are still on the hearts of much of the population here. Pray for continued healing and for peace to reign.
