30 Ways for Muslims to Encounter Christ
Islam teaches that women cannot fast or pray when they are menstruating. We thank God that this is not a reality for us in Christ. Pray for women in BiH today who cannot fast because they are menstruating and will have to make up this day of fasting later in the year by themselves. Pray for their hearts to be softened to a God who welcomes them into His presence any day of the year because of Christ’s blood on the cross.
Praying Scripture
“And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus” (Acts 5:41).
Ask for believers in BiH to saturate the country with the truth that Jesus is the Christ. Ask for grace to share every day and to ceaselessly preach the truth. Ask that each and every household would have the opportunity to hear the truth.
Praying for the Church
Pray that Christians in BiH will search out unreached peoples around them which have not yet been touched by the Gospel. Pray for God to send harvesters to these other groups. Pray for bold witness to neighbors, friends, coworkers, and family members.
Liberty to the Captives
Each of us who comes to Christ must repent of and renounce every pact, promise, or identity we held before faith in Christ. Join us in praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ from a Muslim background as they repent of their former identity as Muslims. This prayer is inspired by chapter 7 and 8 of Liberty to the Captives by Mark Durie
Our bodies belong to God. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
Pray for Christians from a Muslim background in BiH to live in the reality that their blood price has been paid in Christ and to honor God with their bodies.
Bosnian Insights
Bosnia remained part of the Ottoman Empire until 1878, when the Austro-Hungarian Empire overtook its lands. During this time, in order to try and maintain and consolidate power, the Austro-Hungarians ordered religious groups to answer to them as their authority (as opposed to Ottoman, Croatian, or Serbian counterparts in Islam, Catholicism, and Orthodoxy).
Pray against this legacy of using religion as a tool for control, manipulation, and empire. Pray that true faith would spring-up, free from nationalistic ideas or legacies for political control.
