30 Ways for Muslims to Encounter Christ
Islam teaches that Muslims are born into Islam, inheriting the religion of their parents. Christianity teaches the opposite, each person must make a personal decision to follow Christ and His teachings. Today we pray into this issue and ask for God to give grace to Bosniak Muslims to question this teaching that they inherited their religion from their parents.
Praying Scripture
“Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with a veil, and they do not understand” (2 Corinthians 3:15).
Lord, remove the veil. Remove the blinders that keep Muslims from seeing the truth of Christ. May the gospel liberate people from blindness. May the principalities and powers and spiritual forces of evil in BiH (Ephesians 6) be shut down, silenced, broken, rendered impotent. Jesus, your cross conquered the powers: the powers of death, Satan, and his kingdom. You have won the victory.
And now, Lord, we call on your presence and power, your angels and ministers, to move in the spiritual realm in BiH. As Daniel prayed and angels were dispatched and fought wars in the heavenly places, we believe your angels are on the move in BiH, and we expect spiritual breakthrough this month of Ramadan.
Praying for the Church
Pray that God would protect Christians in BiH from distractions and false teachings. Pray that cultural or political news in missionaries’ passport countries would not influence or change their Gospel witness.
Liberty to the Captives
Each of us who comes to Christ must repent of and renounce every pact, promise, or identity we held before faith in Christ. Join us in praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ from a Muslim background as they repent of their former identity as Muslims. This prayer is inspired by chapter 7 and 8 of Liberty to the Captives by Mark Durie
We are called to live in freedom. “[Jesus said:] Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
Pray for Christians from a Muslim background in BiH to root themselves in the freedom they have in Christ.
Bosnian Insights
In 1463, the Bosnian Kingdom fell to the Ottoman conquerors. Unlike in other areas of the world, Islam was generally not forced upon the Bosniaks. Conversion generally was peaceful and due to economic and social reasons. In fact, it took nearly 100 years for Islam to become the dominant religion.
Pray for Bosniaks to not just accept their religious identity for family, economic, or social reasons, but to seek religion that they truly believe is true and life-transforming. Pray for strength to stand-up to the status quo, even when it’s easier not to.
