30 Ways for Muslims to Encounter Christ
In Islam, it is a sin to doubt. It leaves many Muslims with fear of eternal damnation if they question anything they have been taught about religion. Pray today for Muslims in BiH to seek the true God who is big enough for our questions and doubts.
Praying Scripture
“Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age’” (Matthew 28:18-20).
Believers must engage lostness on a daily basis, sharing boldly and broadly everything they’re learning from God. Ask that workers would make disciples and not just converts. Intercede for emerging church communities to start new groups. Pray for new communities of faith to quickly be baptized.
Praying for the Church
Pray that Christians and foreign ministry workers around BiH will have one unified vision of reaching their country. Would a spirit of evangelism, and not division, reign!
Liberty to the Captives
Each of us who comes to Christ must repent of and renounce every pact, promise, or identity we held before faith in Christ. Join us in praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ from a Muslim background as they repent of their former identity as Muslims. This prayer is inspired by chapter 7 and 8 of Liberty to the Captives by Mark Durie
Our inheritance is not intimidation: it is in God. “For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Pray for Christ followers in BiH to renounce intimidation from the Muslim society around them and to put their trust in God.
Bosnian Insights
During the 1300’s, what many consider to be the greatest Bosnian King lived and reigned. Tvrtko I was the first Bosnian king, and under his rule, the Bosnian Kingdom expanded, experienced economic growth, and saw spiritual growth as well. Today, he is a hero for many, with statues of him appearing around BiH.
While there isn’t much known about his personal religious affiliation, during his rule, the Bosnian Church was allowed to meet, alongside the mainstream Catholic and Orthodox churches (Islam hadn’t come to BiH yet at this time). Thank God for this unifying figure, and pray for more leaders to allow the Bosnian church of today to grow and thrive.
